black river harbor ...

over the weekend David had been working on his fishing boat
getting ready for the spring season
someone drove by and told him that they were
"tearing it up" at the harbor
today, cabin fever set in with the new snow
so he loaded his fishing poles and tackle box
(and me)
into the truck and we drove up to the harbor

black river flows into lake superior
it was snowing still, and the wind was quite strong

there were people out on the shore of the lake,
but we weren't dressed warm enough to make the hike ourselves
the weather was too rough to even think about fishing
but along the road we saw several signs for waterfalls we've not seen before
so i'm looking forward to nicer days to explore the falls
once home we drove to an old cemetery near the house
much larger than any i'd seen up here in the UP before
looking forward to seeing spring brighten the trees
and walking among the stones to hear their whispers

  2. I love these photos. Especially the tree lined lane. Always been my favorite. Robert Frost comes to mind. "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."
